Family Time! | {Lexington Ky Family Photography}

This was another one of those sessions that puts my photography journey into perspective.   It was time for this little guy's first birthday session but it seemed like only yesterday that I was photographing the newborn session for his four year old sister!  Time flies and I will admit that I lose track of how long I have worked with certain families.  Once realized, it becomes the greatest compliment that I think anyone could receive regardless of their line of work.   They happen to be one of my favorite families and it was great to see them again here in Lexington.  I could not believe how much their son had grown since his six month session and those blue eyes! WOW did they pop in the shots!  His older sister has changed a lot as well and she decided that she was now ready to pose for the camera and call her own shots which is always fun.  I'll just say it was great to work with both of them during our time together and I love the resulting images. Tonight I leave you with a sampling of my favorites :

Melissa + Zach | {Lexington Ky Wedding Photographers}

Sometimes you just know that you're going to like working with a couple on their wedding day.  Saturday was the day I learned that my intuition was indeed correct.  When I met Melissa and Zach at Danforth Chapel on the campus of Berea College, they were laid back and ready to get started with their first look.  The setting was beautiful and offered plenty of great photo opportunities on a perfect early fall day in Kentucky.

I should mention that Danforth Chapel is a special location for her family. Over forty years ago, Melissa's parents exchanged vows in the chapel as well. I loved talking with her mother about the memories that she had from her wedding day and the nostalgia of your daughter following your footsteps down that same aisle.  The side room where Melissa got ready was the reception area where her parents served wedding cake and mixed nuts after their wedding.   Receptions have changed a lot since that day but Melissa and Zach still managed to keep it simple, and fun, by choosing to meet everyone at her parent's house for a casual reception.

They were surrounded by close friends and family and it was a nice opportunity for me to meet each of them. I enjoyed the time I spent with them and the laughs that were shared with the guests.  Great food and great people is a combination that always makes a memorable evening.

Honestly I could ramble on about how they seem like a perfect fit for each other or about how much I enjoyed working with them or the fact that their families are absolutely wonderful.....you get the idea.  But I'm sure you're here for the preview of their day so I'll leave you with some of my favorites.

Thanks for stopping by and if you know this wonderful couple, tell them Congratulations!

Dwayne

2018 Senior - Madison! {Lexington KY Senior Photographers}

It's always good when you have a chance to work with family!  Sunday my cousin drove from Louisville to meet me here in Lexington so I could work with her daughter Madison.  As if working with family and catching up were not enough, Madison also has a strong interest in photography.  Needless to say, we talked a little shop as we worked our way through the session that evening. I tried to give her as many tips and pointers as I could and she seemed to enjoy the banter.  She is a country girl through and through and we worked with a barn and fence line  while chasing the fading sun on a beautiful evening in the bluegrass.   It was good to see them and hear about their summer adventures in the western US, still a photography bucket list item of mine. It should go without saying that the time passed much too quickly but not before we were able to accomplish our task.  I'm sharing a few of my favorites here on my blog today, enjoy!

2018 Senior - Patrick

Last Sunday I met 2018 Senior Patrick at Sayre to shoot his senior session.  I had previously worked with his brother a couple of years ago in the same area and it was good to be back.  There are a lot of unique combinations downtown and we got a pretty cool mix of historical mixed with contemporary during our two hour exploration.  As a bonus, I found some previously undiscovered locations that I'll keep in the back of my mind for the future.

Patrick was great and had a good time talking to Steve, my assistant, about movies during the session.  It's always good to be able to connect with the seniors and we end up having a good time as well.  It's about photography while we're working and a lot of fun conversation mixed in during the down time spent walking the areas.  All in all it was a great morning and today I am sharing some of my favorites here on the blog!

2018 Senior - Katie! | {Lexington KY Senior Photographer}

So as I was working with Katie last weekend, she stopped and asked if she was going to be on my blog?  I didn't quite know where this line of questioning was going (some prefer not to be and I respect that) but I said sure!  She then told me that she was looking forward to it because she had read many of my posts!  I stopped in my tracks and asked, you read the posts?!  No pressure there!  In all honesty I had a great time working with her and talking to her mom as well.  At some point I mentioned that one of the things that I love, and I do mean LOVE, about this gig is simply getting outside and spending time with people.  It's so much better than social media where we share many of the worlds problems.  I now know that when you get out and spend time with people you realize that the world is so much more than what is seen on computer screens.  Capturing photos of great people being their awesome self is what I love to do and that's exactly what happened last weekend.  Check these out!
