My work with 2018 Senior Representatives continued last weekend with Morgan. She and I met for her session her in Lexington and time managed to get away from me as it often does. I love meeting these kids, talking to them about their interests and dreams, and spending time working on their portfolios. I often run a little longer than I anticipate but to me it's completely worth the time! I look forward to working with her again later this summer when we roll out the entire group session. For now though I'll just leave some of my favorites here so that she and her friends have a chance to catch a little glimpse from our time together. Thanks Morgan, you were awesome!

Last weekend I spent some time getting to know 2018 Senior Rep Laurie. We had a fun time getting to know each other and I enjoyed working with her and learning about her interests. As you'll see in the photos, Laurie is an oboe player and I now have a newfound respect for oboe players thanks to our conversations - what a difficult and finicky instrument! She's much more than that though and has a very bright future ahead of her. I should also mention that her mother and I went to high school (and jr. high school) together and now our kids have or will be graduating from the same school. It's pretty darn cool how life can come full circle in the strangest of ways. Today I want to share some of my favorite images from her session!

It's always enjoyable to begin work with my Senior Reps for the coming year. I always enjoy hearing about their plans, interests, and dreams for the future. Last weekend was no exception as I worked with two reps for 2018. Today I am sharing highlights from the first session with Elizabeth. She has a genuine smile that can't hide her bubbly personality and friendly attitude. I enjoyed our conversations as we worked our way around two different locations and waited out a small shower while working on her portfolio. She also had some great suggestions and ideas which I always appreciate! I look forward to watching her progress during her senior year at Henry Clay High School and working with her again during the group session. Here are some of my favorites from her session :

Saturday morning I met Sahar, one of my 2018 Senior Reps, at The Lexington Country Club for her senior session. I really can't say enough good things about her and her future potential. It was a pleasure to work with her and I quickly picked up on her intelligence and her passion for law. I should add though that it's just as obvious that she is still aware that she is young and enjoys friends, life, and having a good time. The laughs and smiles broke out often and I had as much fun working with her as she appeared to have in front of the camera. She's a natural and the poses flowed into each other so she made my job easy and very enjoyable. The morning passed quickly, and thankfully so, as the Kentucky humidity was climbing by the time we called it a wrap. We made very good use of the time and I got some wonderful photos of which I want to share a few here on my blog. I can't wait to see what the future brings for Sahar, I know it will be promising!

I knew when we first met that this was going to be a fun wedding to document. When you meet a couple that wants to get married on Derby Day in Kentucky and use that for their theme, good things are bound to happen. That's exactly the way things turned out and I could not have imagined a better setting than a local vineyard, Equus Run, as a stunning backdrop. Of course, as any Kentuckian knows, there was a lot of concern with rain on Derby Day but the skies literally cleared a few hours before the ceremony and blue skies greeted the couple as they made their way down the aisle.
For their part, the guests played a great role as the crowd was filled with bow ties, derby hats, and derby fascinators! They were colorful, festive, and displayed great southern hospitality. Of course, no Derby is complete without a little action on the race and therefore a "waging" table was in full swing after the ceremony. Derby hats decorated the guests tables along with vintage green and milk glass vases filled with floral displays. The reception was rounded out with cupcakes and what else, Derby Pie for dessert. The dance floor was filled thanks to the superb sound of The Usual Suspects who did a phenomenal job of keeping everyone entertained throughout the night.
Congratulations to the Colwells! Your wedding day was beautiful and I want to share some of the early highlights here :
