Engagement Session on the Big Four Bridge | {Louisville Ky Engagement Photography}

I've been a photographer long enough to know that things don't always go as planned. This is especially true with wedding photography but also happens during other sessions.  This was the case last weekend when I met this lovely couple for their engagement session in Louisville Ky.

As we arrived to shoot by the riverfront and in downtown Louisville, we were greeted by police cruisers blocking access to all of the downtown corridors.  We quickly realized that Louisville was hosting an Ironman competition that morning and that area was closed to traffic for the majority of the day.

As we took some time to change our strategy and location, we decided after a few minutes to actually drive to Indiana and then walk across the Big Four Bridge to gain access to our original location!  That turned out to be a great idea as it not only gave us another backdrop to use but time to really get to know each other during the walk which is one reason all of my wedding packages include an engagement session.

During this time I learned that this is going to be a fun couple to work with.  I can't tell you how much laughter took place during the morning but I think it is safe to say we all had a good time.  I am already looking forward to working with them on their wedding next year but for now, I would like to share some of my favorite moments from this past weekend.

A Captivating Wedding Day! | {Kentucky Wedding Photographer}

It is rare that I can say that a wedding day was absolutely perfect but such was the case on Saturday.  As I arrived at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort and strolled across the manicured grounds, there was nothing but blue skies and sunshine.  It is unfortunate that every bride and groom can't plan on days such as this.  The great weather, location, and all the little wedding details made for an event that won't soon be forgotten and I have yet to mention being surrounded by friends and family who helped the celebration continue long into the evening.

There were plenty of touching, signature moments that marked the occasion as well.  The exchange of a grandfather's watch from one brother to another, the bride and groom meeting for a moment of solitude to exchange letters and pray before the wedding, and the father of the bride leading her and the bridesmaids in a prayer before they left the room and proceeded to the venue.  That is just a small sample but those are the type of 'behind the scenes' moment's that I love as a photographer.

I want to share those moment's and other's that won't soon be forgotten here on my blog.  These are a few of my favorite's.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed being able to capture them!

Senior Brothers | {Lexington Ky Senior High Photographer}

I had so much fun on this session.  I met these two brother's at an abandoned distillery near downtown Lexington.  We had access to the entire building thanks to a good connection who also happened to be their father.  Once inside, the structure was so amazing that I had no idea where to begin shooting.  It seemed as if there was something more amazing around every corner.  To say it was sensory overload would be an understatement.   I felt a little stressed knowing that our time would be over long before I had a chance to photograph everything that I imagined.  Alas, such was the case but not before we were able to get some great shots.  I am thankful for the opportunity and wanted to share a few of may favorites here on my blog.

I had the chance to photograph this wonderful family over the weekend.  They are close to our family and I have had the opportunity to photograph them frequently over the year's.  I have to admit, I enjoyed walking into their home and noticing my work throughout their house - what an honor!  Those photos happened to be of their oldest son, but Sunday I was there to photograph his newborn brother.  I have to say that big brother did very well - maybe being used to the camera from a young age helped?!  Regardless, I was able to grab some shots of both of them and the family of four during the afternoon.  Here's a little peak from their session :

One of the many perks of this job is building relationships with client's and watching as their live's change over time.  Saturday morning I went to the home of a family I met only about a year ago when I photographed their son as he was celebrating his first birthday.  This year, they needed me to photograph his newborn brother who had just come home from the hospital only a couple of days earlier.  I was honored that they called on me again and since they decided on the Baby's First Year package, I will have the chance to watch him grow during the next year as well!  Here are a few of my favorite photos from his newborn session :
