What better time than Christmas to get the family together and update all the family photos? That's exactly what this family decided to do this year on the day after Christmas. We met at an indoor facility which worked out great because of the massive monsoon that seemed to hover over Lexington for what seemed like a week. It worked out well and I was able to catch up with some of the family that I had not seen in a few years. The children were more than cooperative and we were able to get that much desired grandchildren shot to finish! Here's a little look at a few from the morning :

I've worked with this family in a variety of ways for several years now, almost from the beginning truthfully. I've watched kids grow up, photographed a wedding, and worked with various member's on separate sessions as well. All I can say is that is has been a lot of fun and I have had a great time getting to know them during those sessions.
Needless to say, when we met in downtown Lexington for their session on Sunday, the good times continued. It started out serious enough as we chased down that one good family photo that was truly the goal of the afternoon. But soon after, the ugly Christmas sweater's came out and the fun began in earnest! It was, as it always is, a good time. When we parted I left with a smile on my face as I thought about the memories that they had just made. Here are just a few from the session. Enjoy!

The blog has been kind of crazy this week with previews of four sessions last weekend but today I wrap things up with this post. It was a great weekend and I finished strong with this session. I've been working with these two for a couple of years now and I always come home with a smile on my face when their sessions are over. They are full of energy, entertaining, and more than willing to provide ample smiles during their shoots. Sunday afternoon was no exception when we met just down the street at our local neighborhood park. Despite the quickly dropping temperatures, they were once again up to their old ways and delightful to work with! Here is a sneak peek from their afternoon :

This will be a session that I won't soon forget. We decided to meet downtown at The Lexington Cemetery for this session which proved to be absolutely beautiful this time of year. The trees were still holding some of their autumn leaves and the sun highlighted their color. It was a great location and provided ample backdrops for photos.
Unfortunately, nearly as soon as we began, I had the oldest boy sit on a tree stump to pose. I got one shot and noticed what I thought were gnats around him while looking through the camera. The sun was at an angle and all I could see was the black shadows flying around. We all realized very quickly that it was actually a swarm of bees! Apparently I had chosen the log with the bee hive underneath it for a prop. He only got stung once (thank goodness),shook it off after a little time, and came back to finish strong - what a trooper! Seriously, he did great the rest of the morning and the smiles returned by the time we finished.
The lesson for me? Always kick those stumps a little before having someone sit down - just in case. All that being said, it was also memorable because the photos turned out great, which is the kind of memory that's desired. Here's are a few of my favorites from the session :

This was a great large family session for a good reason. During the past year, I have had the chance to work with each of the families for various reasons. Obviously, this made working with the entire group so much easier especially since I know each of them by name, something very rare when working with a larger group. Needless to say, things went well and I think they enjoyed the time spent together as much as I did. Today I want to share some of my favorites from the session with you. Enjoy!
