Lexington Ky Children's Photography | {Playing in the woods}

The drive through central Kentucky was beautiful as I headed into Woodford County for this photography session.  Although the trees here are not quite at peak fall color, the sunlight was magical as it passed through the leaves.  As the girls began posing in their dresses, in the woods, with the sunlight,  I knew it would be a good session.

Kids being kids though, after a short time the dresses came off and were replaced with their casual clothes - including Supergirl!  Much fun was had as I raced with them across the woods, gathered hedge apples, and  entered a spaceship just for girls under the weeping willow tree.   They told me I could come in but would need more hair and proceeded to pick some willow branches to use in that endeavor.  If it were only that easy!

Lexington Ky Engagement Photographer | {Morgan and Andrew}

This weekend I met with Morgan and Andrew at Fasig Tipton here in Lexington  for their engagement photography session.  I can't tell you how much fun we had as we basically hiked through the property during the evening.  Many laughs were had and time quickly passed as the sun sank and set the sky on fire.  We managed to get access to some great locations and it was completely worth the effort.

I am looking forward to working with them next year on their wedding day.  They are a great pair and I'm sure that it will be a beautiful occasion!  Until then, here is a look at a few from Saturday.

Lexington Ky Family Photographer | {An afternoon in the park}

I love the fact that you doesn't take much for a child to have a good time.  Whether it is an open field,  a playground, or a place to operate a John Deere dump truck, often it's just nice to stand back and let them have some freedom to run, play and enjoy the act of exploring their surroundings.  Waveland, in Lexington, offers just such opportunities and is therefore often a popular destination for photographers and families.

     This weekend I met with a brother and sister and their respective families for just such a session.  Having worked with both before, it was good to have a chance to photograph them together and grab a few shots of the cousins playing together as well.

     I should also give some credit to the ladies for coordinating the outfits.  People often ask me what to wear for a family session and this offers a good alternative to the traditional khaki pants and matching shirts.  Details matter and they pulled it off with great style.  I already know that I will be referring to this post in the future regarding clothing.

Here is a small look at their session, enjoy!

Kentucky Wedding Photographer | {Elizabeth and Nick}

Cave Hill Vineyard, located in southern Kentucky, provided the stunning backdrop for this beautiful wedding.  As a teenager, Nick helped plant the vines that are located on the rolling hillside of the vineyard.  He also brought his 1948 Chevy pickup truck, which he has restored, down to the vineyard from his home in Cincinnati.  Elizabeth has a great sense of detail and used a country chic theme based around her favorite color, purple, to tie everything together. The result was a day that will not soon be forgotten.
     I had a nice time meeting friends and family during the time we spent together and have no doubt that these two will be a great couple surrounded by loving people during their life together.   I am not a gifted writer nor am I sure that words could convey the beauty of this day. I will rely on my photography to convey the beauty of this wedding ceremony weekend with Elizabeth and Nick.  Below are a few photos but I had so many that I decided to post an additional slideshow at the bottom as well.  Take some time to view the photos and watch the slideshow :

Lexington Ky Children's Photographer | {Daniel's 9 month session)

There is probably not a location in Lexington more quintessential Kentucky than Keeneland Race Course.  Twice a year for three weeks each, horses, owners, and jockeys converge on what many consider the most beautiful racing facility in the country.  The remainder of the year, however, it provides a beautiful backdrop for photography.

This is where I met Daniel for his nine month session this weekend.  He was all smiles and in the best mood as we made our way around the facility.  He even picked out a horse while he was there and, judging by his smile, I'm pretty sure that it was a winner.  Here is a look at a few of the images from the day :
