Tonight I have the pleasure of introducing my last 2018 Senior Rep, Emma! I could write an entire blog detailing the courage that Emma had to have to even shoot this session. Days before the session she suffered a severe ankle/heel injury to both feet from an accident at the lake. We had reserved some time to shoot at Shakespeare and Co. here in downtown Lexington and she wanted to make sure that we were able to keep that appointment. What you won't see in these photos are the sock feet, tennis shoes, and placing heels on her feet right before the shots. All I can say is that it all payed off. I love the way that these turned out. She did an amazing job of fighting through the discomfort and working the camera! The setting was spectacular and I have to give a special thanks to the folks at Shakespeare and Co. for giving us the opportunity to use their facility. Here are a few of my favorites from Sunday:

I was worried about the chance of rain heading into this session but as fate would have it, it was a beautiful evening. The setting sun provided beautiful lighting as a backdrop for this final session of the weekend. Natures splendor combined with coordinating clothing was a perfect match for this family session. We worked for an hour or so and that was plenty of time to grab some photos as the sun was setting. One of the many things I love about photography is the opportunity to meet new families and Sunday was no exception. Let me share some of their photos with you today....

I met Kristen and Kenny Saturday evening for their engagement session at Waveland. The low hanging sun provided the perfect backdrop for their session and they were so easy to work with in spite of the Kentucky humidity that's always present this time of year. Sometimes you can see the affection that a couple has for each other simply by the way they interact and converse with one another. They were the completely natural and comfortable with each other and in front of the camera which made my job easy. I have a feeling that their wedding next October will be a ton of fun! Today though, I want to let you see some of my favorites from their engagement session....

I held my Sunflower Mini Sessions yesterday morning. Arriving early was a good idea as I needed time to scope out a perfect patch of sunflowers and that was not easy as the heat of mother nature had wilted most of the flowers the week before. That combined with a nice rain the morning of the sessions made conditions quite interesting. Obviously I was at the mercy of nature but I must say that the rain ceased shortly before the sessions began and waited until they were over to resume - perfect timing. I think everyone had a good time and enjoyed the tranquility of the farm just outside of our normal hustle and bustle. I know that I had a good time working with everyone! I have to thank my wife Jennifer for the scheduling, correspondence, and shuttling everyone out to the sunflowers. Of course I thank my good friend Steve for assisting with lighting, making us all laugh, and coming up with some excellent posing ideas. Today, I share some of the highlights here on my blog :

It's not like I needed any reason to work with this family. I've worked with them before and their sessions have always been a lot of fun. However, this time they wanted to bring their dog along for the session. If you know me, you'll understand that I love dogs. You'll also know that I am very patient and determined (read stubborn). I will get the dog shot if at all possible. That was not a problem last weekend however as Sarge was very well behaved. I also know to keep the camera rolling when pets are involved. You'll get some great candid shots that you could never plan. In reality that's usually the best shot of the session. The shot of life as it happens - you can't beat that. Today I want to share a few highlights from their session!
