Newborn Session! | {Lexington Ky Photographer}

There's something so special about a newborn session.  So much potential wrapped up in a little bundle.  So many dreams and possibilities to be realized.  It's always fun to capture them at this age, the beginning if you will, because they change so much within the first year.  Sure the changes are actually lifelong and as a father I realize that it's fun to watch them grow throughout the school years as well.  But that first year offers the most dramatic changes.  Changes that range from crawling to beginning to walk and communicating.  It's good to relax, enjoy these days, and of course, take a lot of pictures!  There's nothing like looking back to where it all began.  Today I want to share some photos from this newborn session last weekend.  She was a sweetheart and absolutely wore herself out modeling and posing.  It was worth the effort though, take a look for yourself :

I've been working with this family for five years now.  It was hard to believe when they told me but I've been with them since their oldest was a baby.  A family of three with one baby boy has now turned into a family of five with three boys!  It's been a blast working with them and watching them grow.  I think that is mainly due to the parents and the fact that they are so down to earth and we share a common sense of humor.  Dad always comes into the sessions and says, you know what we need - one or two good photos, that's it.  That is true but they also like the outtakes, the ones that I normally don't share somehow make it to the back of their Christmas cards.  I love that because that's real life and it's been fun to share that with this family.  Today I'm sharing some of the highlights from their session last weekend.

Senior Session With Kayla! | {Lexington Ky Senior Photographers}

As a kid I played the trombone.  Trust me, you don't run into too many of those in life.  When you do, it's kind of an instant bond.  Let's just say that we hit it off from the start for this session and never looked back.  I absolutely love, and I mean love, working with seniors that are totally comfortable in their skin.  They know who they are and that naturally comes out in the photographs.  It makes for fun sessions and a lot of laughs, smiles, and ease of conversation.  Kayla nailed it and her session, in my opinion, was remarkable.  She rocked the Rolling Stones and guitar look with ease, the casual look was no problem, and then she killed it in the dress.  What put her over the top was rocking the trombone photos, that takes talent and we got some good shots there as well!  It was a great evening and I want to let you see some of her photos here on my blog :

After a crazy busy week shooting, I'm back behind the computer and catching up with my previews! Be warned, you'll be seeing a lot this week. I wanted to begin with Mackenzie and Weston. We met last Saturday for their engagement session here in Lexington. They are so much fun and after spending this time with them, I am totally looking forward to working their wedding next year at Buffalo Trace! Here are a few of my favorites from their session.

There's nothing like working a photo session with a newborn.  Happy parents, beautiful baby, baby props, coordinating outfits, and family traditions are usually a few of the things that I can expect when I walk into a home with my portable studio in hand.  Last Sunday was no exception as this family was completely ready with all of those along with bottles and a pacifier.  That's all we needed for this newborn.  She did the rest and she did it well.  Based on her session, I have a feeling that she's going to be a natural in front of the camera as she grows older.  Today I want to share some of those shots here on my blog so you can see for yourself.  Congratulations to her parents - she's a beautiful girl!
