2017 Senior Rep - Sarah

I was telling a friend about this session from last weekend.  They responded by stating that I really have access too some beautiful places that aren't accessible to the public.  That is true and I love it when client's want to use that access for original and unique sessions.  Saturday, we had access to a large horse farm in Versailles that provided a wonderful backdrop for this senior session.  The irony is that during the entire shoot we didn't run into any horses but,as we were leaving, we made a little detour before heading out the main gate.  That was a great decision and led to some fun candid photos and a lot of entertainment.  Some of the foals were in the field and their curious nature got the best of them.  They decided to come in close and pose for the camera as the sun set behind them.  What a great way to end an already fun session!  I'm sharing some of my favorites here on the blog.

Have a great weekend everyone!

2017 Senior Rep - Grace!

Thanks to some crazy rain and cool weather this spring, my schedule got shifted and last weekend I worked with five senior reps in two days.  I'm not complaining, I had a lot of fun as did they but I did get behind on preparing their previews for this blog.  Needless to say, this is going to be a busy place over the course of the next few days!

I began the weekend sessions with Grace and worked with her near downtown Lexington for most of her session.  She wanted a mix of traditional and modern so we changed a few venues during the morning to make that come together.  My goal is to try and let the seniors decide what look they prefer and then figure out the locations to match that preference.  After all, their senior year is about them at this point in their life and not about me.  Working together to help capture this moment in a way that's comfortable to them is my main goal.  I think we successfully pulled that off with this session but I'll let you take a look at a few of my favorites and judge for yourself.

Thanks Grace for getting the weekend started on a good note!

Sunday I met with Joslyn for her photo session.  She is in the final stages of releasing her first album and was in need of some cover photos!  To say she is a free spirit would be an understatement.  She enjoyed the spotlight and appeared very comfortable in posing throughout her session.   She made my job easy and was so much fun to work with throughout the evening.  I'm looking forward to seeing the final product and listening to the album. Until then, I'll leave you with a few of my favorites:

Staci and Ben | {Lexington Ky Wedding Photographers}

I spent Saturday with Ben and Staci as the celebrated their wedding day surrounded by close friends and family.  We met early at the wedding venue, The Lyric Theater in downtown Lexington, to document hair and makeup.  We left as the 1958 Bentley pulled away from the curb with the newlyweds in the backseat!  Needless to say, it was a day to remember and I was honored to play my part in that role as their photographer.

A wedding in a restored theater provides some amazing photo opportunities.  They were able to do hair and makeup in a theater dressing room complete with lights and we took opportunity of the stage and theater seating to grab a few photos as well.  We had planned on using the outdoor courtyard area for the ceremony but the weather was not cooperative.  The ceremony was moved to an alternative location, an upstairs art gallery. I must admit, I liked the atmosphere.  It had the feeling of a metropolitan event in a larger metropolitan setting and I think the bride and groom enjoyed being the focus during their ceremony.

I could go on longer about the day but I think I'll let the photos do the rest of the writing, that's actually what I prefer as a photographer.  Before I share those though, I want to share credit with all the vendors that made this day possible:

Hair : Lauren Prather

Make Up : Erica Powell

Rings : Leroys (Bride)  Wedgwood Rings (Groom)

Bouquet : AnthologyOnMain

Cake : Bit Of Whimsy

DJ : BMF Sound Design

1958 Bentley : Gold Shield Limousine

And now, a few of my favorites from the day :

2017 Senior Rep - Cora!

I have no idea where this week went.  It seems like I shot this session only a couple of days ago but in reality it was Sunday evening.  I have to thank all of you for that as I have been very busy with session's this spring and have also had the opportunity to shoot four large prom group's as well.  You have done an amazing job at spreading the word about my photography!

So, before I can prepare for a wedding tomorrow, I wanted to get this posted on my blog so Cora could see a few of my favorites from her session.  We met near downtown Lexington on Sunday evening to begin work on her senior session.    Our goal was to capture a couple of different looks so we decided to begin with a more traditional setting before heading downtown and eventually finishing on a rooftop.  At the end of the night, I think she had a lot of fun as did I.  I'll share of few of my favorites here and let you see for yourself.
