2017 Senior Rep - Emily

Last weekend I wrapped up my eighth and final senior rep session with Emily.  It's always good to finish on a good note and she made that possible by knocking it out of the park.   I wanted to spend some time at a new location so we started the photography session in downtown Lexington before moving out to a local park on the north end of the city to finish the morning.  A couple of quick hours passed and we called it a wrap and headed for the air conditioning!

This is my third year working with senior reps and I feel I have learned from each group.  Now that their individual sessions are finished, I am looking forward to working with them on a couple of group sessions!  Check back near the end of summer so you don't miss those.  Until then, I want to share some from Emily's session.

My favorite model, Emma! | {Lexington Ky Senior Photographers}

I've been working with this model since day one, literally.  When we began working together, I was using a film camera and mailing that film to the lab for processing.  She has had my camera in her face far more than she'd like to admit and at times would get tired of me taking her picture.  Many things have changed in the 17 years since that day but one thing remains the same - she's is my favorite model.   It's hard to believe that this many years have passed but yesterday, as we worked on her senior session, the reality hit me. I've had the fortune of watching her change over the years into the beautiful young woman she has become.  Although thankfully she looks just like her mother, in many other ways she's also a little version of me.  She has a quick wit, a great sense of humor, loves a good joke, and doesn't take life too seriously.  I couldn't have asked for a better girl to work with over these years and I actually wonder what I did to deserve such an honor.  Today, on my blog, I'd like to introduce you to my daughter Emma!

2017 Senior Rep - Caroline

Today I am sharing my fifth and last senior model session from last weekend.  The weekend was a lot of fun for me and I believe all the seniors enjoyed themselves as well.  Caroline was looking for a more traditional look and I think we were able to successfully pull that off during this session.  Caroline did a great job of showcasing her beautiful smile in a relaxed way.  It's important for me to capture seniors in a way that makes them comfortable and in a style that they want remembered.  Actually,  that's the most important aspect of senior, or portrait, photography.  The greatest compliment that I hear is when someone tells me that they like my work because it's natural, enjoyable, and not heavily edited. That's my goal, one hundred percent of the time.  Today I am sharing some of my favorites from this session.   Some of these seriously just blew me away and I can't wait to see what you think.

2017 Senior Rep - Abby

Thanks to some cool and rainy weather, this session was pushed back to last weekend.  They say that some things in life are worth the wait and I believe that was the case regarding this session.  We met on a Sunday afternoon and I had a good feeling about this session as soon as it began.  We worked in the downtown area and a local bar was nice enough to provide some great background music which really seemed to lift the energy of the shoot.  I also knew that Abby wanted to do a completely cool,  urban, city style session which is definitely my favorite to photograph.  I think that appeals to the explorer in me as it is about simply going out and seeing what I can find to work with as a background.  It awakens my creativity and Abby was all about posing and having a fun time on location as well.  It all worked together and led to some amazing photos.  I want to share a few of those here for you to see as well.

2017 Senior Rep - Morgan

I don't usually spend Friday nights blogging.  Tonight though, I break that tradition out of necessity.  I have you to thank for that and it's a good problem to have.  I've been contacted many times lately and I can tell that those of you that have watched me grow have been busy spreading the word about my work.  So tonight I gladly blog and introduce another senior rep!

I shot five senior rep sessions last weekend and tonight I have Morgan, from Tates Creek High School, featured on my blog.  We met at the Arboretum here in Lexington Ky to begin her session.   As I arrived, Sarah Elizabeth from GlamLex was finishing makeup and we were watching the skies with an umbrella nearby.  Fortunately for me, the session went as planned with only a minor interruption which provided some cool photos under a large tree which held the rain water at bay.  We finished up on the downtown streets which are honestly my favorite local location to shoot.  It made for a fun morning and Morgan was awesome!  Here are some of my favorites from the session :
