As Steve and I left The Barn at Red Gate in the first minutes of Sunday morning, he stated that he was not sure if he has ever seen a couple as in love with each other as these two.  I have to agree.  It was obvious from the beginning that they were each a little nervous with a happy, joyful anticipation as their wedding approached that afternoon.  It was quite an honor to have the pleasure of working with them to help them celebrate, and remember, this special day.

The bride, along with her mother, worked diligently on the details and planning that tied everything together during the day.  They were well prepared, yet willing to go with the flow, and everything came together in the most beautiful way.   Little touches like her matron of honor's garter, hand written vows,  the brooch bouquet made by her step mother, the centerpiece of her grandmother's ring in the center of her cross necklace, the engraved bridesmaid's champagne flutes, along with the groom's father bringing his 1951 convertible Bel Air for her entrance to the ceremony sent everything over the top!

Speaking of details, let me give some credit to all the wonderful vendors that helped make it all possible!

 I could do my best to describe in words all the wonderful ways this wedding day completely rocked but I am a photographer and my best work is not prose.  That being said, let me just share the highlights of the day with you in the following photos :

If I could describe the wedding I had the pleasure of photographing this weekend, I could do so in one very simple word : fun.  I can't begin to describe how laid back and easy going this couple was to work with while enjoying every minute of their time in the spotlight.  That translated well into their photographs.  As I began to work my way through them today I could see little smiles and quick reassuring glances in their faces.  They surrounded themselves with members in their wedding party who obviously shared these ideas as well and on more than a few occasions had Steve, my second shooter, and myself  laughing hard enough that we needed to recompose ourselves.  To say it was memorable would be an understatement - it was fantastic!  I have no doubt at all that they are perfect for each other and will make a lifetime of great memories together.

I do need to mention a few vendors that helped contribute to the day's success :

Hair : Bri Swain  cosmetologist

Makeup : Sarah Stephens licensed esthetician

Wedding Cake : Sweet Lilu (seriously one of the best wedding cakes I have ever eaten!)

Venue : Castle Hill Winery

Cake Topper and Flutes designed by : Cindy Blanton (made by Bazie Dulen)

Now, here are the highlights from the day :

I was reminded on Sunday that no matter how old you are or how long it has been, stepping back onto a baseball field will bring back a rush of childhood memories.  Being fortunate enough to have access to the baseball field at my high school alma mater, Lafayette High School here in Lexington, KY., only made those feelings more nostalgic.  If you've ever watched Field of Dreams, then you know exactly what I am talking about.

Ben was great to work with and very laid back.  Being the shortstop on one of the best baseball teams in the state this year, he seemed comfortable in this setting.  I had a hard time choosing photos for this preview because it really seemed like two sessions, one of the baseball player and one of the bright young man on academic scholarship with plans for engineering.  These are the final preview picks :

As a photographer, I feel that I sometimes become part of the family after working with them for several years.  The families trust me and I know their children's names and we are very comfortable around each other.  It makes the job easy as well as meaningful.  I have several families with which I feel this way and this weekend I was able to work with one.  Apparently, I am not the only one that feels this way.  When we met this weekend, I realized that their oldest daughter had begun to call me Uncle Gwayne!  Who knew?!  I wouldn't have it any other way!  So we had another fun session Sunday afternoon and I watched the girls explore the woods and play with a few great props provided by Mom.  Here are a few photos from the day  :

Family Fun at the Riding Stable! | {Lexington Ky Family Photographer}

I love meeting new families and Saturday evening proved to be no different.  I met this family on location here in Lexington, KY. at a local riding stable.  We could not have asked for a better environment than the backdrop of black fences, the rolling hills of central Kentucky, and the sun which had just started it's long descent.  The girls were awesome, smiles were plentiful, and we used the fields and dandelions to our advantage for some fun photos.  They were my last session from the day and I could not have scripted a better ending!  Here are a few of their photos :
