I had to reschedule this family after we were rained out on our original date a few weeks ago. That might have been a blessing in disguise because when we met this week the fall colors were simply stunning. We had just enough sun to bring out the color in the trees and keep things just warm enough to be comfortable. In other words, it was a perfect setting for photography here in Lexington, KY!
The last time I worked with this family, I was shooting a newborn session. This year though, I was working with a cute one year old who is expecting a sibling in February. It's funny how quickly things change! Much like last year, this was an easy family to work with and the time passed quickly as we made our way through the fields and the sunlit trees creating more memories that will last for many years to come.
Here's a look at a few of the highlights of their session :
I have a confession to make. I am always a little uneasy when I arrive on location for a newborn/baby session. I think that the explanation is easy to explain. I am not in control of the situation - at all. I can pose a couple, instruct a senior high teenager, and even have games I can play with toddlers, but I am completely at the mercy of a baby. So when I arrived for a session this week, I had no idea what to expect. Let's just say that things went so well that I could barely believe what happened when it was over. Seriously, this little girl could not have been any better! Smiles greeted me when she entered the room and the manner in which she handled clothing changes would have made a professional model jealous. Upon leaving, I smiled and thought to myself - I need to photograph babies more often! Here's a little look at a few of the photos from the session:
There's nothing like meeting and working with a new family and that's exactly what I did earlier this week when I met this great family to do a first birthday session for their little boy. He was in a great mood and I have to admit, he was quite the charmer as you'll soon see. Mom and Dad even decided to take advantage of the opportunity and do a few family photographs as well. Everyone was relaxed, the lighting was perfect, and the session went as smoothly as one could possibly hope. Of course, you can't properly finish a kids first birthday photo session without a birthday cake now can you? Here's a look from their session :
One of the best benefits of being a photographer is meeting and working with great families. I have been working with this family for several years now and it has been fun watching their family grow. We met again a few days ago to capture more memories and have a little fun at the local park. Things went well as we worked our way across the fields full of fall color, played in the leaves, and even put on Halloween costumes for a few cool pics! The best part for me though was when their boy, as we were walking out, asked me "Dwayne, are you going to go to Culver's with us?" That's just awesome and one of the reasons that I love what I do.
I had the chance to meet and photograph a great family this weekend here in Lexington, KY. After several weeks of planning and emails, this entire family was able to come together and meet for a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon. This was one of the largest families that I had worked with other than on a wedding day and I have to say that it was a lot of fun. I met Mom and Dad, seven siblings (3 sisters and 4 brothers), 4 spouses, and 4 grandchildren for a total of 17 family members (and growing). They were patient, relaxed, fun to be around (not many grown adults ask for jumping photos!) and photograph. As you can imagine, I have a LOT of photos from the day but only have the room on here to share a few so that's what I am going to do. Here's a look from their day :
