Maddie's Senior Session | {Lexington, KY Senior High Photography}

I realized that I was with a kindred spirit Sunday when only a few minutes into her session, Maddie told me that she was not used to being on the other side of the camera.  I knew immediately this meant that she had photography experience - how cool is that! Later I learned that she had studied photography in school and had begun shooting some sessions herself.   I also understood what she meant as most photographers would rather look through the lens than look into the lens, myself included.  She did great though and we had a fun time in downtown Lexington before changing locations a few times as we chased the fading light into the evening.  Here is a tiny sampling from the evening :

2014 Senior Rep Kyrie! | {Lexington, KY Senior High Photographer}

After much deliberation about taking another step forward with my photography business, I decided that this year I would begin using senior reps in local high schools.  This year I decided to begin with one rep and I could not be more excited about introducing you to Kyrie!  She is a senior at Lafayette High School and has already signed with Queens University of Charlotte as a member of the swim team.

We met this past Sunday for a couple of hours for her session and it could not have gone any smoother.  She was fun to work with, open to suggestions, and a natural in front of the camera.  I am looking forward to editing all her photographs but really wanted to go ahead and share some with you as soon as possible!   Be on the lookout for more photos from her in the coming months in this blog and on social media.  If you have not already done so, I encourage you to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.  All those links can be found here on my website!

Please note that if you are reading this and are currently a junior here in Lexington, I will be announcing more rep positions this spring.  If you are interested, you can go ahead and contact me or just keep an eye out for the announcement around May.  If you're a senior at Lafayette, make sure to contact Kyrie for more details about a senior session!

Senior Session at Ashland | {Lexington Ky Senior Photography}

While not every photography location needs to hold significant meaning for my clients, there is something a little special when it does   This was exactly the case on Sunday when I met with this family at Ashland, the Henry Clay Estate.  Having lived within close walking distance for over 20 years, Ashland has become an extension of their backyard.  I could not think of a more suitable location to photograph their family photos as well as senior photos for their oldest son than the location where he and his sister started walking.

Here is a look at a small sampling from the day :

An Engagement Session To Remember | {Lexington Ky Wedding Photographer}

I met with Brooke and Spencer on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University for their engagement session last weekend.  Having never shot at the University, or Richmond for that matter, I was looking forward to finding new locations and backdrops.  Brooke came prepared with many ideas and the campus did not disappoint as it offered a wide array of opportunity.

They wanted to have their session here since that is where they met and spent a lot of their time getting to know each other.  Brooke, who loves to read, wanted a library themed session so that is where we began before heading out to explore the campus.  I enjoyed hearing their story as we passed different buildings and paths along the way to new locations.  Before we finished, we also headed downtown to grab some shots of other memorable locations - first kiss, favorite coffee shop, and of course, the local bar.  It all made for a great day, a lot of fun, and a many memories!

Senior Session with Briana | {Lexington Ky Senior Photography}

This was one of those sessions that forced me to look back over my shoulder to where I started. It seems like only yesterday that I was doing a senior session for her brother which just happened to be my first senior session.  It's amazing how quickly time flies by!  I have enjoyed working with this family over the years and am quite honored that they have allowed me to capture many of these special occasions.

Briana decided to meet at Keeneland Race Track to begin her photo session before heading to downtown Lexington - my favorite place to shoot lately!  We had a great time and it was a perfect evening to take advantage of this iconic Lexington location.  The city offers a large variety of backdrops, lighting, and creative venues, all of which make opportunities for fun photography sessions.  She was a great model and working with her was a breeze - as always!

Here is a small sampling of her session :
