I was pleased to get a message a few months ago from clients that I had not seen in quite some time. They were expecting and wanted to go ahead and set up an approximate session for the arrival of their new baby boy. Of course, as newborns often do, he decided he was ready a few weeks before so we got this session set up a little earlier than previously planned. They came over last weekend and I transformed the house into a little studio. I thought it worked great and I was able to get some good photos in between feedings and diaper changes as is normal procedure with all newborn sessions! Today I want to share a few of my favorites with you here on my photo blog.

Sunday morning I began the first of three sessions with one of my previous families. I had not had the chance to work with them in a while and was looking forward to catching up on lost time. I was so happy to hear that they were expecting and this shoot was also going to be for their big announcement. Big brother played a great role in the photos as well. He was dressed as Captain America but told me his name was 'Cap'. He spent some time showing me his skills and they were pretty awesome. Before we finished, we were joined by their extended family and got some group photos as well. Having worked with all of them previously, I must admit it was an enjoyable morning to be able to do so again!

Sometimes you just know that everything went well with location, wardrobe, and lighting as soon as the session ends and I've been looking forward to publishing this blog ever since that time. Allie and I met last Sunday evening at Keeneland Race Course to begin her senior session and finished in downtown Lexington. Both locations provide some classic central Kentucky backdrops for senior photography. The time passed quickly and I believe that Allie felt like a model during the experience. Of course, she had makeup done on location by Jennifer Banks Makeup and my friend Steve came along and was holding a four by six reflector which undoubtably contributed to that feeling! It was a team effort and I think it payed off well. These are a few of my favorites from the day :

It's always fun to work with people that you love and last Saturday was no exception. I met this family when my daughter joined a local swim team and if you've ever been to a swim practice or a meet, you know that there is plenty of time to talk and become acquainted with other families. We've been friends since and I was glad that they asked me to do their family photos. We met at Keeneland and spent about an hour on the property before calling it a wrap. It's an iconic backdrop of Lexington, Ky and holds a special place in the hearts of many here in the Bluegrass. It was a great day and today I want to share some of my favorites with you!

I spent some time with this family last weekend. We met at a local park here in Lexington Ky. which provided the perfect backdrop for a first birthday photo session. I have now had the pleasure of watching, and photographing, both of their boys. I can still remember his older brother, unsure of what to do, eating his first birthday cake. This guy, however, was all in as soon as we sat him down. The poor cake didn't have a chance. When it was over, there was icing everywhere - even between his toes. It made for a fun day and some memorable moments caught on camera, of course. Here are a few of my favorites from the day:
