I can't believe how far things have come along in just a few short years. This little man is turning one but I remember, when I was just beginning, taking photos of his big sister on her first birthday. That's another thing about photography that I love - my clients become my friends. I have the chance to develop friendships with families and help them celebrate those very important occasions in life. Whether it's a birthday, a senior graduating, or a wedding, this is one thing that I always look forward to sharing. So today I have the opportunity to share a few photos of Cohen. Happy Birthday to Cohen!

Sometimes in life you get a lucky break. Last weekend was no exception. This senior session had been scheduled well in advance and there is absolutely no way we could have picked a better day. It was a day where I was reminded of how much I love this job. A great location, a perfect day, spring in the air, and an exceptional senior from Lexington Catholic made for a memorable photo session. I had a hard time picking photos to share and could not narrow it down any more than this. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed the day!

Thursday I met Laura at her aunt's house in Lexington, Ky to begin her senior session. The property was beautiful and offered a wide array of shooting backdrops including barns and horses - two favorites of mine! I don't think that I was a favorite of Wilson, the horse in the pictures. He hung in there for a moment but was obviously glad his photo work was over for the evening.
The time flew by as she changed clothing and we worked different locations before heading into downtown to wrap up the session. We picked a perfect evening as the sun began to set over the skyline and provided great lighting at the end of the night. By the end of the session she was thoroughly enjoying the time and the spotlight. As far as I am concerned, that's a measure of success!
Here are some photos from her session :

My clients have asked me on more than one occasion to begin offering mini sessions for special events. This year I decided to take them up on that request and offered mini sessions for Easter. Of course, you can't have an Easter photo session without Easter bunnies! Add to that children dressed in their Easter best, a beautiful Kentucky day, and Easter eggs with baskets for a fun afternoon. I was anxious about the children's reaction to the rabbits and even about rabbits running away while on location but all went better than expected! This might have been the first mini sessions that I have offered but now I'm thinking it might not have been the last! I do need to thank the owners of Most Valuable Pets here in Lexington for lending me the rabbits to use for the sessions. I could not have pulled this off without their help. Enjoy the photos and I hope you and your family have a Happy Easter!

It's Sunday and for many across the Lexington area this is a day of open houses and showcasing real estate. A few weeks ago, I did a photography session for The Bell's. They are a mother-daughter real estate team in Lexington that desired some updated photos to use on their website and promotional material. While working with them, I could easily see what makes them unique and successful. Nancy brings much experience to the team, having been in the real estate business for over 30 years, while Beth brings a youthful energy and new creative ideas and marketing strategies. I could also see the strong family ties that are evident in the house such as cookbooks that have been passed down from mother to daughter, prominently placed photos of family, and even a monogrammed spoon used to stir the coffee that was a family heirloom. I had a great afternoon getting to know them and encourage you, if you're in the market, to give them a call or connect with them on their facebook page! Below are a few images from the afternoon :
