There is a sinking feeling when you drive to your wedding location in the midst of dark and stormy clouds. Such was the case this past Saturday as I pulled into the parking lot of The Marriott Griffin Gate Resort to meet Morgan and Andrew for their wedding day. Unfortunately, as soon as my friend Steve and I got all of our gear up to the room, the downpour commenced.
The good news was that we still had time to get some preparation photos done during the rain. The timing was perfect and as the bride and groom prepared to meet for their first look, the clouds gave way to a temporary reprieve of glowing sun. We spent the next hour or so on the manicured grounds of Griffin Gate and were able to shoot a few of their requested photos before the next round of showers pushed us back inside. That proved to be the final round of showers and this outdoor wedding would now go forward without any more rain delays.
I worked with these two last year for their engagement photos and I quickly remembered how much they enjoyed being with each other. This time though, while working with them surrounded by their family and close friends, was even more enjoyable.
Morgan paid an extraordinary amount of attention to detail, Andrew made the correct calls about the weather, and their wedding was extraordinary. Every detail, from the program to the flowers was stunning and I kept waiting to see what I could photograph next during the day. I never ran out of options. Congratulations Morgan and Andrew, it was a beautiful wedding!
Speaking of details, there are some vendors that need to be mentioned. They made my job much easier and provided a perfect backdrop to this wedding day.
